Hear me moan,
Naughty Dog released a story trailer for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End this week and it wasn’t long before Ubisoft Montreal’s head of content, Azaizia Aymar, spotted a piece of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag artwork in Nathan Drake’s apartment. Naughty Dog have since re-released the story trailer with a different piece of artwork and issued an apology but I’m not entirely sure it was accidental.

Why? Well when you consider that Uncharted 4 is about stealing pirate treasure it only seems fitting to steal artwork from a game about pirates. Maybe Naughty Dog intended to get caught. For what reason, I’m not sure but the irony has definitely been absorbed by everyone who already knows about this cock-up.
Besides, someone was responsible for inserting that stolen art into the trailer. It was rapidly changed too, so it wasn’t a difficult change to make. If it wasn’t difficult to change why was the Black Flag art used in the first place? The location that the shot transitions into is almost identical to the art as well, which means the island Drake explores must look similar to the island in Black Flag, so maybe there has been more inspiration from Assassin’s Creed than what we’re being told.

When I consider how quickly the artwork was thrown away it makes me question what significance the art in Drake’s apartment might have. I wouldn’t be surprised if, come April, there was a map in the frame instead. Maybe the conversation Drake is having on the sofa ties in with what’s really on his wall.
