FX Networks has announced that Season 3 of the horror drama The Strain will debut on Sunday, August 28 at 10pm ET/PT. From the dark mind of Guillermo del Toro and Carlton Cruse, season 3 will see New York City residents fighting against the vampires as they continue their takeover of New York City. Only this time the federal government decides that New Yorkers must fend for themselves. Which actually isn’t much different from before anyway as they have been largely useless. The Strain will receive a 10-episode season.
The synopsis for season 3 reads:
“As season three begins, New York City is a battleground. Written off by the federal government, the people of New York City must fight for survival on their own. The question is who will win? Humans or strigoi? Our heroes win victories, but are not winning the war. Beset by personal conflicts – betrayal, disappointment, paranoia – our group is splintering… Meanwhile, the Master is close to executing an irreversible transformation of the world. Is there still hope to save the city and humanity?”
Which to be honest could have been the synopsis of season 2. The FX series can be a bit hit or miss but I’m glad we are getting a continuation non the less. The the series will Corey Stoll, David Bradley, Kevin Durand, Jonathan Hyde, Richard Sammel, Natalie Brown, Miguel Gomez, Max Charles, Ruta Gedmintas, Rupert Penry-Jones, Samantha Mathis and Joaquín Cosío return.
