French website gameblog.fr is reporting that a sequel to the 2013 Injustice: Gods Among Us will be announced very soon. They say one of their sources has confirmed that Injustice 2 will be unveiled in the coming days, maybe even before E3 which kicks of June 14th. It will reportedly use the same engine as Mortal Kombat X, release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC and be in stores March 2017.
Injustice: Gods Among Us was a pretty dark take on the DC universe, it featured an evil superman taking over and implementing a totalitarian regime after the Joker tricked him into killing Lois Lane, and their unborn child. Batman being Batman wasn’t having any of that and assembled a team of superheroes to take him down. The game was reasonable well received. Injustice: Gods Among Us won the award for “Best Fighting Game” of E3 2012 by the Game Critics Awards. The game also received “Fighting Game of the Year” awards in 2013 from IGN, GameTrailers, Game Informer, the VGX, and the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences’ D.I.C.E. Awards so a sequel was always inevitable. We will have more on this as soon as new information is released. Until then take this as a rumor and nothing more.
