Bethesda has revealed the long anticipated sequel to Prey, well I say sequel, it’s actually a reboot of the series.
Prey 2 was first announced back in 2008 and suffered a troublesome development cycle causing the game to switch developer multiple times. Then in 2012 Prey 2 was removed from Bethesda’s products page leading to rumours of cancellation and this was later confirmed in 2014 at PAX Austrailia by Bethesda Softworks Vice President Pete Hines. Then a week ago a noted industry insider announced on a radio show that we would be seeing a reworked Prey 2 making an appearance at E3 along with a number of other games, and it appears he was right. Just when we all thought it was dead and buried, Prey has reappeared on the biggest stage possible.
On stage, Bethesda revealed that this new rendition of Prey will take place in 2032 and follow Morgan Yu who is the subject of some experiments on board a space station. Somehow the space station gets overrun by aliens and all hell breaks loose. Players will then have to use various tools and weapons to survive. You can find the trailer below.
Prey will release sometime in 2017 with more information about the game arriving at Quakecon.
