X-Men have always been strong contenders on the comic book movie frontier often being critical and commercial successes and this summers X-Men Apocalypse was no different, you can see what I thought of the film here. Early this year we heard that Fox is making a play for TV with Legion being announced and having a fairly strong cast in Dan Stevens and Aubrey Plaza.
Now it seems even more mutants are destined to be on television as Fox have now ordered a new X-Men show with Bryan Singer and Simon Kinberg both attached as producers. Fox’s president made the announcement and said the following.
“Developing a Marvel property has been a top priority for the network–and we are so pleased with how Matt Nix has led us into this thrilling universe. There’s comic book adventure, emotional and complicated relationships, and a rich, existing mythology from which to draw. With the brilliant production crew behind this project, it has all the makings of a big, fun and exciting new series.”
The basic premise at this point in time is that the show will follow two parents who discover their children are mutants. Under an increasing threat from mutant-hostile government agencies, the family goes on the run into the underground world of mutants while they fight to stay together and to survive.
We did not learn the continuity of this show, whether it will be a standalone like Legion or tie into the larger universe on the big screen but as soon as we know more you will too. So keep tuned to Out of Lives.
