General hints and tips:
Make sure you configure your PlayStation VR Headset (PS VR) every time you play. This is because changes in player position or room lighting need to be taken into account.
To have the best experience, we recommend the following:
- Become familiar with your play area.
- Make sure your headphones or earbuds are on or in the correct ears.
- Keep your controllers handy so you know where they are after you put the VR Headset on.
- Take frequent breaks when using your PlayStation VR Headset.
Room set up:
Check that your room is set up for the best possible VR experience:
- You need a space of at least 9.8 feet (3m) x 6.2 feet (1.9m).
- Place your chair directly in front of your PlayStation Camera about 6 feet (2m) away.
- Clear all obstacles from an area larger than the play area.
Room lighting:
The darker your room, the better for PlayStation VR tracking.
To make sure the PlayStation Camera (PS Camera) can correctly track the PS VR Headset tracking lights, DualShock 4 wireless controller or PlayStation Move, make sure the following aren’t in view:
- Lamps or bright lights.
- Direct sunlight.
- TV screens.
- Flashing lights.
- LEDs on other devices (e.g. laptops).
- Mirrors catching the reflection of the PS VR Headset or controllers or other light sources.
If you think your PS VR Headset or controller tracking lights aren’t tracking correctly:
- Press and hold the PS button on your DualShock 4 controller to open the Quick Menu.
- Select [Adjust PlayStation VR] > [Confirm Your Position]. Bright lights show up as dark colors on this screen so you can switch them off or move them.
- If you are still experiencing tracking problems, please refer to the PS VR: Troubleshooting Guide.
PlayStation Camera set up:
- For the best tracking experience, place your PlayStation Camera (PS Camera) about 4 feet 7 inches (1.4m) from the floor.
- Make sure your PS Camera is on a level surface directly facing where you’ll be positioned when you play.
- You should position yourself about 6 feet (2m) away from the PS Camera.
- Make sure the PS Camera can see the PS VR Headset.
- Press and hold the PS button on your controller to open the quick menu and go to [Adjust PlayStation VR] > [Confirm Your Position] to check your positioning.
- If you want to calibrate your PlayStation VR Headset or controller tracking lights, go to the PS4 home screen and navigate to [Settings] > [Devices] > [PlayStation VR] > [Adjust Tracking Lights] and select the device you wish to calibrate. Then follow the on-screen instructions.
- Make sure the camera lenses are clean by using the supplied microfiber cloth (designed for lenses only).
VR Headset Tips:
- Make sure the lenses are clean by using the supplied microfiber cloth when you start a new game session or switch player.

- If things still aren’t clear after doing this, check out the PS VR: Troubleshooting Guidefor more help.
